Diversions - Miss Teen USA Contestant From South Carolina Tells It Like It Is

While I was researching some finance related topics for my blog, I saw this on TV. Okay, I know this clip has absolutely nothing to do with making money or saving money, but I just had to post it. Poor thing..I'm sure she's hiding in her room right now..but it's just too funny.

Thanks to her brilliance, I now know why one fifth of Americans can't locate the United States on a map - that's because we don't have maps! :) At least she gave a decent shout out to Iraq and uh...South Africa for some reason..

I think the principal from Adam Sandler's movie "Billy Madison" put it best when he said:

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'm not sure...but I didn't feel it was all that difficult of a question. What do you think? Well, at least she looked great right?

  1. Chief Family Officer says:

I watched a little bit and then had to turn it off because I felt so bad for her! Talk about humiliating! But still, I believe she managed to come in third anyway ...

  2. Kacey Green says:

I'd have to agree with that quote, there are no words to describe what I just saw there! What did she study obviously not geography?

  3. real life says:

humiliating? she doesn't know the meaning of the word. her "fab-you-lous-ness" outweighs any concept of general humanity or awareness.

what did she study? nope, not geography. but the question, and her answer, have nothing to do with geography. the issue is that this is american beauty. complete, utter, urban facades-directing short attention spans and misplaced individual pursuits away from the fact that this woman, and the "stereotype" she represents and willingly justifies her existence with, is an honorable and admirable achievement.

after how many years of life, and sheltered, self-chosen experiences, which have delivered little actual knowledge, is society supposed to revere this "category" of person.

I am upset. on multiple, multiple levels. everything about this scenario is very disturbing.

  4. Tanya (aka NetChick) says:

Don't worry too much about this airhead... She got a number of gigs from the fame. I think it's kind of pathetic, really, that she'd be rewarded for being so utterly useless.

And, it was her decision to get up on stage, and be so ill prepared to speak to such an easy topic. *sigh*

  5. Sabrina's Money Matters says:

I think it's sad that someone can show such ignorance and lack of thought process and still have a career. If I said something that stupid to my boss, I'd lose my job. Our country however is so incredibly superficial that this was viewed more as a reason to pity her and make excuses for her than to recognize her ridiculously obvious lack of knowledge.
