Katie,

Thank you for your feedback but I did not impregnate his ex wife, He is not working at all and that is not my fault. I am only the childrens stepmother and I work 80+ hours a week to support my family of four and his four children every weekend also. I bought my home with 0 money down with fannie mae and worked on my credit for 8 years after my divorce. My husband did not put a dime into it or effort into it and I am being penalized for him being fired and not reducing his child support to coincide with his unemployemnt. His ex wife has no rights to my hard work.

PS I am still trying to collect child support from my ex husband but I dont expect his new wife to pay for it!

Kristin, Thanks so much for your feedback I will look into the injured spouse return.
Greatly appreciated!

I don't want to sound rude at all, I know times are rough for everyone and I don't know your situation at all, but I do know that I am a single mother, and I have not received child support for my 6 year old daughter in 4 years. I have had to struggle so much in the last four years, even having a college degree hasn't really helped. I feel that if he owes so much in child support that they are taking his taxes, maybe right now was not the best time to buy a house. I know, as a mother, my child is the most important thing in the world to me and if I have to rent a cheap apartment to make sure her needs are met then that's what I have to do. The money is not debt to his ex wife, the back child support is care that hasn't been provided to his child.

Lisa-

My cousin had the same problem. Her husband owed back child support. When you marry, you both become responsible for it when filing taxes. They filed separate and her taxes were ALL taken (over 4000 dollars) even though they filed separate. She later found out that she had to file what was called an "injured spouse" return in order to not have her return taken.

Hope this helps.

I bought a house in 2009 whie married to my husband. His name is not on the title of the home. We filed seperately for our 1st time home buyers tax credit and his portion was intercepted for back child support, can the IRS do that if the house is not anywhere under his name, I feel like i am being held liable for debt to his ex wife. He is not working and has not been for a year and a 1/2, Hope someboby can clarify for me!

Hi, I was just wondering if I qualify for a stimulus check? I did not qualify last year because I had just started working and did not make enough money for 2007. Hopefully I qualify this year.

Hi there, I was just going through old tax papers, and realized I have not yet sent in the 8453-OL 2007 form. I didn't receive the economic stimulus package over the summer like I had hoped, but I thought it was just a miscommunication between my parents and myself over being claimed a dependant. Now I wonder, if I fill out this 2007 8453-OL and send it in, before I file my 2008 return, will I still be able to receive my economic stimulus that everyone got over the summer? Thanks!
