Eric,
I've never given buying used much thought...but I suppose it's a legitimate way to get a high performance car at a cheaper discount. I would just be worried about its maintenance history and whether the car was properly "loved", or driven with reckless aggression.
In regards to your concerns about our government's deficit issues...you could always buy an American car. :) Or is that asking too much? For many it is..myself included on a certain level.

I'm actually looking around and finding great deals on 335i's and C300s And even though these are foreign, the money already left the US, so I dont feel like I'm contributing to the massive export deficit.

Mo Money,
I don't generate my entire income from one source alone (blogging). I also generate a substantial amount from my legal practice and other non online business ventures. I'm working on a few ideas at the moment but they're currently in the preliminary incubation stages due to the stagnating economy.
Other than my regular weekly church tithes, I have not engaged in increased charitable activities yet. Perhaps I will in the coming future.

I am shocked?!? You generated THIS much income blogging (55K - 60K)? Can you let us in on where to begin, what we need to do???
I am an attorney myself, and it seems like the legal market is tight these days. People aren't suing, as many would assume. People would much rather settle with the opposing party, rather than take matters to court. That makes sense - the economy sucks, and everyone's suffering from it.
Personally, I've lost SOOO much money in the stock market - so much that I can't bear to open my account, and see the glaring red numbers!! I just can't...
Question for you - what are your thoughts on non profit organizations and charities out there that seem to be struggling more so these days because of the economy?? Lately, I've received over 5 letters from charities I've donated to in the past...seems like everyone's struggling..I would love to donate, but realistically, I can't....What about you? Is there a specific charity that you donate to?? I mean, with all the money you make, I imagine you can spare some of it...? :)
I'm with JayKay - please share with us on how we can start blogging, and generate crazy money like the way you do?? Do share, and please, don't hold back any details!!!

Well yes, you lost ~60% of your $50k portfolio - but by the looks of it your make more than twice that loss per month in income. Most other people are looking at losses that would take years or even decades of work to make up (plenty of stories of people near retirement with heavy stock portfolio ... ouch). So two weeks of work doesn't sound so horrible. You should be happy it happened to you at this point in life and not later.
BTW - What is the income breakdown of legal work, blogs and real world ventures. And could you give some more specifics on the real world ventures? Also a post on blog writing economics would be cool - most people on seem to be earning petty cash from blogs, but you seem to be profiting quite nicely so you must have some wisdom to spread on that topic...

Dumitru,
I am not concerned about inflation at the least. Interestingly enough, there is even current rampant talks about deflation, which has the potential to wreck significantly more economic havoc than inflation. However, I think the economy just needs time to work itself out. Many businesses and sectors will be wiped out at the end of it all, but the economy will survive at the end.
The federal government needs to stop trying to bail out failing businesses and industries like the entire U.S. auto sector. Let them go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy and restructure their contracts and do away with their oppressive United Auto Worker union agreements. That way they can emerge from bankruptcy leaner and in more competitive shape to compete with foreign auto companies - especially the Japanese and Korean car makers.
