The position of Video Game Designer is highly sought after, and can be quite rewarding. It is an extremely tedious and time-consuming job, but the rewards are huge. Pay is high, but more importantly, the end product can be something that you can be proud of. Not unlike being a lawyer, you can choose to work for small to large sized organizations and dabble in many different areas without too much additional training.

Lol. Unfortunately, knitting is my crafting weak point. I can knit, but I crochet so much better that I've just given up knitting.

Mrs. Micah,

Have you heard of this new Sock Wars thing? It's basically extreme knitting in competitive form where knitters battle each other by knitting pairs of socks and mailing them to their assigned targets. If a player receives a knitted pair before the player finishes, then she's knocked out of the competition. Cracked me up when I read about it but it sounds pretty interesting!

Oooh.

Quilting store owner - I love to quilt and I love fabrics!

Librarian - I love to read. I love to help people find books. I have a passion for libraries. I also have the Dewey Decimal system memorized (see below). *innocent whistling*

Library Page (shelver) - Passion for libraries. If this job paid more, I'd be willing to do it 40 hours a week (though I'd prefer to work 25 hours and make $30,000 a year but that wouldn't happen). I adopt libraries and help make sure all the material is where it's supposed to be. I did this for some 5 years and it was my best job ever! Perks include getting to see lots of books and learning the Dewey.

Charitable quilting organizer - Obviously this job doesn't pay, but I think it'd be awesome. Organizing quilt drives, quilting circles, etc.

Blogger - When Micah gets a full time job, this might happen. Yay! :) (with a part-time job on the side too)

However until I'm more mentally balanced I don't think I could try anything entrepreneurial. Freelancing/patchwork jobbing is hard enough on my psyche.

Hey JB,
I'll post about my experiences and share some thoughts in an upcoming post. Not sure how to frame it so I don't sound too gripey though.

If you are applying to a top tier school (top 25) then you may be all right and I'd encourage you to go for it. Anything lower, I urge caution. The market is very, very saturated.

Remember, anyone can become a lawyer...there are no pre-requirements and there are more than 4 whopping tiers of law schools - substantially more than any other professional field of study. The biggest hurdle is the student loan factor. Are you prepared to take on more than $100,000 worth of student loans? For more insight, take a look at one popular forum for wiped out law students and attorneys at jdunderground.com

However, it's not all bad. I don't regret law school completely - I received an excellent education and it prepared me for all facets of the business/legal working world. However, while the education will equip you with powerful tools, at the same time it will also hand you a bit of jadedness as well.

Personally, I would love to hear your story about your feelings of being an attorney, law school, the pros and cons. I am contemplating law school, for the right reasons (not money) and am looking forward to furthering my education. Yet I hear again and again, that lawyers are very dissatisfied with the profession, have high depresssion rates and it's scary to hear. But again, I'd like to pursue the field for the right reasons and it makes me wonder if people that are dissatisfied didn't go into it knowing the whole story? I already work alot of hours and at a stressful job...I'm wondering how much could really change.

Thanks! (or if you have a post on this already, if you'd highlight the link I'd appreciate it).
