Well if you get a card with a 2k limit, simply transfer 2k worth to the new card. Hey 2k at 0% is better than nothing.

I just had the exact same experience as Anon right above me here. I applied for the Linux card through US bank specifically to do a 0% balance transfer. Just got the card and the credit limit is only $2,000, and of course the transfer was denied. I have another US Bank card with a $16,000 limit so this made no sense at all. called cust. svc. and all they could tell me is that $2k is all I "qualified" for - I even told them to look and see that I have another card with them for $16K. But that didn't make any difference. I'd have to wait 6 months to increase my limit, which does me no good...This must be yet another reaction to the economy and the recent restrictions imposed on CC companies, I'm guessing?? IN any case I'm off to looking for another...

Just to let you know - I wanted to do a balance transfer, so I signed up for the CITI Freedom card. Imagine my surprise when they offered me a credit line of only $1800! For comparison purposes - I have never had a card with less than $5k line of credit, and most of my cards are $10k to 20k. I asked for it to be increased - they said no increases until 6 months. Of course, the 0% on the BT only lasts 6 months, so that's useless to me. Just wanted to warn you all.

BE AWARE, from my own experience that I just finish with CAPITAL ONE CREDIT CARD. Don’t fall in to the trap like me that they say “TRANSFER A BALANCE WITH NO FEE FOR CUSTOMER ONLY”, press transfer to see the promotion. On October 1st, 2009 at 12:30 pm; when I get online Capital One Credit Card to check for my balance; I saw the message “TRANSFER A BALANCE WITH NO FEE FOR CUSTOMER ONLY”, press transfer to see the promotion. I press and it said with 0% until May, 2010. To good to be true, especially when you got a laid off. I call CAPITAL ONE customer service to confirm is it true? and a lady told me that 0% promotion with no transfer fee that I had it will be end on June 1st, 2010, so make sure pay off before that day, otherwise they will charge me 13.9%. I told her that I will make a $15,000.00 transfer if it is really 0% and she said, yes, it is true. But then later on they send me a statement charge me arms and legs. My point is even anytime you call and they said: Apparently, it’s OK for them to record calls for “training or verification purposes” be assume that they never use it or they not so stupid to use it when you call back and tell them; you charge me arms and legs when one of your employee confirm with me that arms and legs is not charge, you can listen to your recorded on that date to hear that confirm. IT’S NO USE. Be aware from “TRANSFER A BALANCE WITH NO FEE FOR CUSTOMER ONLY”, press transfer to see the promotion, and if the promotion come out 0%, make sure you will be the one to tape that conversation, write down first and last name the person you talked with, write down the date and time that you call them. Guess what? They charged me Finance Charge is $200.50. This is my first experience use CAPITAL ONE, and it will be it. I had a very good credit score. I’d used CHASE, BANK OF AMERICA and CITI. I love it. Their Customer Service is more professional and helpful and they don’t cheat you and this is from my own opinion.

Hi - I received an offer from Discover card for a personal loan - with the possibility of an interest rate as low as 8.99% (it could be higher than that after they crunch the numbers). For instance on a 10,000 dollar loan - it would be 180.00 for 72 months - for a 15,000 dollar amount it would be 270.00 for 72 months. If I am approved - at the 8.99% amount - I could pay off my high interest card that is at almost 26% and the rest I could use to buy a used car (my current car is possibly needing a repair that will be costly). I live in a rural area - so a car is a necessity. If I apply for this loan will this ding my credit rating? Is there anything else I should be concerned about? I am also applying to my bank for a car/personal loan. I have always just saved money toward major purchases before - so really don't know much about applying for loans. Also a newer car will possibly have a higher insurance rate - any good sites to find out which cars have the lowest rates? Or just call my insurance agent and ask?

American Humane Visa gave me the card and a $10k limit which didn't pay either transfer...then they tell you one thing to get the limit increased, but when you do that, then they say they need another thing - this happened on a couple goarounds in a row - bottom line, you can get the card with a small limit, but they aren't straight with you about higher limits

How about a review of the 0% balance transfer credit cards above rather than just a list of 0% balance transfer offers. What's the specific difference between the cards beyond the APR deals they offer? Is it just the card reward programs that separate them?

Someone Help! I'm in financial trouble! My Story startes with me being diagnoised with Breast Cancer this past June. I have been making my payments, a few I was just a couple of days late, Because, of surgeries. I have been trying to get my car loan and credit card interest down for months, to no avail. I with Chase Bank for my car loan. They denied me refinancing. I don't know for sure why, they're sending me a letter. I thinks it's because a 2003 van, not a 2004. I've never been late with a payment, since this one time. 4 days. I have good/Excellent credit. What should I do?Where should I go to get help? As for my credit card with Guaranty Bank. They debited a double payment out of my checking account, and that's why I was late on my car payment. I tried for 2 1/2 weeks to get them to credit my account. They said they would 2 different times. Now they said no. Because, they reviewed the tape of me approving the transaction. I told them I never paid that way in the past, to look at my history, and that I must have misunderstood. I have a medical condition, and am on a lot of meds. They don't give! I want to quit that company. I'm $8,000.00 in debt the my CC and $11,000.00 with my van. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Cathy, did you get the 12 mos. or just 6 mos.? When you follow the link, it does say 12 mos., but then has a superscript 2 which then says it's good for 6 mos. Just curious. Thanks!
