The first thing I'd do would be to get out of town and chill out somewhere. Maybe stay gone for a few months. Not that the destination would be critical, just leaving would be the main point. During that time I'd try and figure out what I was going to do with the money: how to invest it and make it last and grow, how to give some to family and friends and how to live with it. I'd find a new house, and the usual things you need for a house. Then would try to live life as best I could. I'd be very hard for anyone to find, and limit exposure to people as well. Finally, I'd get a really nice car and spend a lot of time traveling around the country, seeing new places and staying at a few for extended periods. I think it'd be neat to stay in some small town out west, stay in a hotel and maybe just hang out. Maybe rent a nice house and attend school while taking it easy. I'd also consider buying some low intensity business I could have someone run for me, while at the same time keeping my day to day involvement low key. I guess the main thing you take from winning is the right to do what you wanted, no matter what that turns out to be. Your getting a bunch of free time to do what you wish. That's the main thing.

I only play when the $$ exceed 200 million. But even that as hard as it seems to believe is turning into "chump change". I read the other day that the top 20 hedge fund managers in 2006 averaged, get this and hang on, "earnings" of 647 million dollars ! Not a bad years pay. In case you are wondering about the math that works out to more in 15 minutes than the average American earns in one year.

I think we all want the easy way out and dream of winning big without having to put in much effort. Building a small business gives you control of the terms and pace, but not without some risk. Slow and steady will ultimately win the race but it's all to easy to get caught up and want to race to the front clutching a lucky lottery ticket! :)

Funny, I played only because it was soooo much money and I had the extra single when going in to pay for gas. Which I very seldom ever do anymore, always on the plastic. My post yesterday was not about winning the lottery so clearly I didn't win. But yesterdays post was a winner.

Hi Raymond, I don't play the lottery often as I'd never remember to check the numbers!
I think the great thing about the lottery is that there's so many people out there who are obsessed with winning that they don't try to make money any other way - eg: Building a Business. This means the odds are better for those who want to make money through building business because there is less competition. What do you think?
