Your comments came up on my search,"DIY replace auto glass".
(Very little of use came up on that search.) You say that you had some trouble getting the old glass out of the junker. But you give no details on how you did it. Seems to me that the process to put the used window into your car would have been just the reverse of the "pulling" process. It is those missing details that us Do It Yourselfers were looking for.

Check out Crazy's Ray's. I forgot which location I visited, but they have multiple "auto parts gardens" through out the state of Maryland.

I actually picked up a side window at a junkyard today and realized after I got it that it looks harder to put on than I originally thought. I was just looking up instructions for installing it and read your post and now am thinking I will also just pay someone else to install it. Thanks for the great idea. It will save me a lot of hassle and probably some broken glass.

We have a junkyard, and as Stephanie suggested, the parts are removed for you. It's too much of a liability for us to allow people to wander and remove things on their own. Not only could they hurt themselves but they could also damage parts while removing them if they didn't know how to do it properly.
All in all, the price of a used part is usually quite a bit less expensive than a new one.
