Wrote a similar article on my blog at: (link). My article takes a somewhat opposite stand. For me the big issue is the feedback issue. Once the feedback is put into place on eBay I'm probably not even going to bother posting any on eBay. I will perhaps look at some of the startups that are going to allow feedback posting outside of eBay.
Price is price and depending on how many auctions you close versus how many you actually list this may very well be a break even.
Paypal keeping my money interest free is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I can't believe that would even be legal.

Hi,
thank you for writing this article. But you are very wrong in thinking the one sided feedback fiasco will help with the broken feedback system. As we speak bad buyers are using posting ID's and are buying items and negging sellers within 5 mins, after the auction ends. ( they didn't realize the feedback change does not take effect until May) Which really doesn't matter on their end, as they only set up a new ID to neg sellers, so if they got negged back now, or reported for non payment, they would get suspended and it still wouldn't matter to them. Sellers also will no longer will be able to determine wether or not they are selling to a bad buyer or not since all buyers feedbacks will be all positive. So a buyer can buy an item, say he doesn't like it, ask for a refund and even keep the item, and still receive no negative comments. You may say well Paypal has Seller protection against charge backs. well think again.... I have heard too many stories of people getting money taken out of their accounts by Papal for charge backs and never recovering it. Also buyers can neg sellers for very ridiculous reasons now in May and demand refunds and threaten with negative comments,,,, the item was not red enough, it didn't match my bathroom, i don't like it any more, ect...... So, in the long run, even though YOU yourself would never do this to a buyer, PLENTY will. And if there is a favorite buyer you buy from, you may see them pack their backs, because their feedback was ruined by unfair buyers. Yes I know you say this can be policed by Ebay, but get real, by the time they listen to both sides of the story ( which willnever happen and their Customer Service is just about gone and I believe outsourced for the most part) the seller's feedback record can be already ruined. It wilbe TOO late. And your comment about Powersellers becomng more powerful? That is ONLY if they keep an average of a 4.6 average in ALL 4 catagories in the wretched incorretly set up DSR star ratings monthy. Which is SO hard to do, as you know you can never satisfy all customers, even if you bent over backwards for them. I suggest you lurk around Ebay's chat rooms a bit more, especially the feedback discussion board, it is a wealth of info. And one more thing.... retalitory feddback from sellers is sometimes derserved. If you bend over backwards, or have certain policies listed in your auction, which should protect you from a return and that buyer does not abide by them and then negs you for whatever reason, and refused to work things out with the seller, then YES that buyer deserves a retalitory negative comment. Just because a buyer pays for an item, does not mean the transaction is complete. Buyers threaten with negs if they are not refunded for stupid reasons, or they just wanted the item for nothing, And many times sellers get blamed for postal problems which is out of their hands. There are many reasons why sellers neg back with retalitory feedback, because frankly sometimes it is well deserved! And don't even get me started about Paypal's new policy of a 21 day hold for some seller's funds if they forsee a problem with a transaction. Being that most sellers use the USPS office to ship their items, I don't even think this is legal??? They are not FDIC, and frankly, I see a big mess here. Well......., thought I would vent. Hope you can look at things with a different perspective. Try selling on Ebay since 1998 like I have, I have heard it all!
